Nourish Knoxville’s Market Square Farmers’ Market begins its 12th season this Saturday, May 2, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In addition to locally-grown produce, local food products, handmade crafts, nursery plants, and mobile food trucks, shoppers at the 2015 Market Square Farmers’ Market will also find:
“Veggie valet” service:
Shoppers are invited to drop off their market purchases with a volunteer at the Wall Avenue info booth while they bring their vehicle around to pick up.
Due to health and safety concerns for shoppers, vendors, and pets, pets are prohibited in the aisle between vendors on Market Square and Market Street. As the MSFM has become more and more popular, incidents involving dogs endangering and/or frightening patrons have increased. These incidents have become increasingly common in the most crowded and congested areas of the MSFM, the central aisles where dogs can feel threatened, come into close contact with small children, and where the majority of the produce and other unpackaged food items are sold. Incidents also increased of dogs defecating in the aisles or urinating on food, tablecloths, coolers, and other items where food is displayed. In the interest of personal and food safety, the dog-free zones are being implemented to provide a safe and sanitary shopping experience for all our patrons. Service animals will always be permitted, and animals that are safely confined in carriers will be allowed.
Union Avenue, and the sidewalk areas of Market Square, and Krutch Park are dog-friendly zones, where patrons will find the food trucks, dog treat vendors, and many other MSFM vendors. Please refer to the MSFM map for dog-free zones.
